The town hall square in Denkendorf is ready for summer again. We planned and supervised the renovation – a project right on our doorstep. Located just a short walk from our Denkendorf office, we were commissioned to plan and oversee the refurbishment of the town hall square. The project has now been successfully completed. The small flight of steps and the adjacent town hall fountain have been comprehensively refurbished and now present themselves in a safe and high-quality condition. The existing site comprised a five-step staircase directly adjoining a four-step fountain, set within paved plaza and pedestrian areas and adjacent to the stairway leading to the underground car park. In recent years, weathering and moisture had caused significant damage: loose natural stone slabs, defective waterproofing and a leaking circulation system made a comprehensive renovation necessary. As part of the works, all natural stone slabs of the steps and the fountain were removed. A large proportion of the material was carefully cleaned, refurbished and reinstalled, preserving the familiar character of the town hall fountain. The fountain waterproofing was completely renewed, new joints were installed and the decorative stone spheres were cleaned. Of particular importance was improving safety: the step edges were more clearly defined and are now easier to see, significantly reducing the risk of accidents. With the completion of the works, the town hall forecourt now shines in a new light – just in time for the warmer months, the fountain can once again be brought back into operation.
