More greenery and safety
For the picturesque district of Baach in Weinstadt, we led the redesign of the village’s main thoroughfare—a project of major significance for both traffic safety and local quality of life. The existing road was formerly a straight, unstructured corridor lacking visual or spatial elements to guide movement. The absence of architectural or green features led drivers to underestimate their speed, often resulting in unsafe driving behavior.
Our design aimed to divide the road into visually distinct sections using landscape architecture. Strategically placed street trees created gateway moments and subtle narrowings that naturally calm traffic and significantly improve road safety. These trees also enhance the village’s visual identity and contribute to ecological value.
At the center of the village, high-quality paving replaces the former asphalt surface, establishing a new public square with inviting character. This area also incorporates much-needed parking, designed to be functionally integrated and visually restrained.
The next step involves developing a collaborative concept with local residents to harmonize adjacent private spaces with the renewed public design language. The long-term goal is a cohesive village streetscape—characterized by a unified aesthetic and a high standard of living.
