Security Fence, Kelley Barracks, Stuttgart

Reconfigured security zone

On the U.S. military base Kelley Barracks in Stuttgart, we planned and closely oversaw the expansion and reorganization of the secured perimeter zone. The goal was to meet the required safety setback between residential buildings and the security fence. To achieve this, adjacent land was acquired, and a new fence approximately 350 meters long was constructed at the proper distance from the new property line. A 3.5-meter-wide service path was created between the fence and the boundary.
The new fence stands nearly three meters tall and consists of galvanized and moss-green powder-coated steel mesh panels. A Y-shaped extension arm with barbed and NATO wire prevents climbing. To ensure privacy, the fence includes woven PVC privacy slats.
The existing surveillance and lighting systems were adapted to the new alignment. We replaced old fiberglass masts with new metal poles, installed underground cabling via trenches and manholes, and ensured secure access through lockable cable chambers. To maintain the required clear zone, 29 trees and dense undergrowth were removed, with replacement plantings carried out elsewhere on site as part of compensatory environmental measures.
