The redesign of the forecourt and pathways leading to the new Ruit sports hall represents a key contribution to the ongoing development of the Württemberg State Sports Schools – a project located quite literally on our doorstep. As an important hub for both elite and recreational sports, the site required a functional, barrier-free and clearly structured access route that meets the needs of athletes, visitors and staff alike.
Particular attention was given to the valuable mature tree population that defines the character of the area. These long-established trees were carefully integrated into our design and thoroughly assessed to ensure traffic safety. At the same time, the significant differences in elevation between buildings and terrain posed a major planning challenge. Through precise height coordination, we were able to create an almost step-free circulation system that enhances user comfort while protecting sensitive root zones.
The sites’ close proximity to our office allowed for quick on-site coordination and an efficient construction process. The result is a clear, natural and sustainable pathway design that ensures a comfortable and safe approach to the sports halls.
