Inviting outdoor spaces for children
For the construction of the five-group daycare centre in Kirchheim unter Teck, we created outdoor areas that combine child-friendly play, clear structuring and ecological responsibility. The open spaces were divided into areas for children under and over three, offering a wide range of opportunities to move, explore and find moments of calm. A meadow with climbing and balancing elements, shaded sand play zones and adjoining stone terraces provide high-quality spaces for both children and educators.
Communicative seating areas in quiet, well-supervised locations encourage interaction while also offering sheltered retreats. In selecting materials, we focused on durable and sustainable solutions: wood, natural stone and robust play equipment made of metal and recycled plastic form a resilient and visually appealing ensemble.
A loosely planted, flowering hedge marks the transition to the public realm, combining privacy with a rich nature experience. The concept is supplemented by an efficient rainwater management system with generous infiltration areas and cisterns. We also enhanced the adjacent Jauchertbach in a nature-oriented manner, turning it into an accessible learning environment for children.
