Community Park “Grüne Mitte,” Weinstadt

Lively Park Landscape for Diverse Use

Between the districts of Beutelsbach and Benzach, we oversaw the construction of the new “Grüne Mitte” Citizen and Community Park—a project that links all five districts of Weinstadt while transforming the surrounding cultural landscape into a diverse and vibrant agricultural park.

Based on designs by A24 Landschaftsarchitektur and developed in close collaboration with the City of Weinstadt, the park is a patchwork of privately owned, municipal, and community-shared spaces. Supported by national funding programs for urban development and experimental housing models, the project delivered new pedestrian and bike paths, play and sports areas, gardens, timber structures, a parking lot with electric charging stations beneath a canopy of trees, and several public gathering spaces.

The park’s central feature is the Park Forum—a hub for community interaction and shared activities. Surrounded by orchards, BBQ areas, picnic spots, a “snack garden,” youth play area, and a water playground, the park offers spaces for relaxation, recreation, and participation. Additional athletic features include an urban parkour course and an outdoor fitness area.
A defining element is the community garden, developed in partnership with local farmers, civic groups, and volunteers. The resulting space is more than a park—it’s a place that fosters ecological and social connectivity, creates identity, and invites meaningful community engagement.

Awarded in the category "Concepts for Nature and City" at the 2025 German Landscape Architecture Awards.
